MK-800 E.C.
Stimulator has been developed for the screening of anti-convulsant drugs. MK-800
has an unique "Step-up Mode" in addition to the conventional "Constant-current
Mode". Output current is controlled by the combination of analog feedback loop
and micro prosessor.
At the step-up mode, the output current is gradually
stepped up at the user-defined rate, and the digital panel meter holds the
current value delivered last.
The electroshock seizure threshold for each
mouse can be determined by the test result. This method is useful for the
assessment of both anti- and pro-convulsant activities of drugs (Y. Kitano et
al: Journal of Pharmacological and Toxicological Methods Vol.35, Number 1,
1996)
Either
constant-current or step-up mode can be selected at the operator's discretion.
Corneal electrode is supplied with the instrument as a standard.
